Introduction to GitWorks: an Open DevOps platform for Cyber Physical Systems and Digital Twins

Gianmaria Bullegas
CEO of Perpetual Labs

GitWorks showcases Perpetual Labs’ vision for the future of Model-Based Design. It is a web-based platform that enables individuals and organisations, large and small, involved in the collaborative development of Cyber-Physical Systems and Digital Twins to share and combine digital assets, such as models and tools, in an IP-protected and access-controlled way.
GitWorks provides a data integration framework for modelling artefacts (different types of models like SysML, Matlab, Modelica, CAD, etc…) based on Linked Data. To this we add Git-based Distributed Version Control and Change Management and FMI-based co-simulation. Access is provided through a modern Web application with real-time collaboration capabilities.
Additionally, GitWorks Commons provides a searchable repository of models, tools and services to support the creation of multi-models and Digital Twins with a try-before-you-buy business model. GitWorks has been designed as a turn-key solution for model management and integration provided with the convenience of a Software as a Service product.

Speaker bio: I grew up on a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean called Sant’Antioco (close to the coast of Sardinia). It’s a truly beautiful place and I love it dearly but, unfortunately, there isn’t much to do there apart from fishing and tourism. So, after high school, I left to see a bit of the world. I ended up getting a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Pisa. After that, I was a Research Associate at San Diego State University (SDSU) for two years. I led two research projects related to the F22 and Global Hawk development programmes and still managed to do some surfing. I carried out my PhD in Advanced Composites materials at Imperial College London. My research was awarded with the 2016 best PhD researcher from SAMPE UK and the 2019 Thesis award finalist from the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial. After the PhD, as CTO of Synbiosys Ltd, I led three R&D projects in collaboration with the Defence And Security Accelerator (DASA). In 2019, I left Synbiosys to start Perpetual Labs and the rest is history, as they say.
